I was going to write about something else here, but suddenly I’m struck by a question: Anyone know when the “crossed-arms reporter shot” became popular? I feel like it’s the columnist standby, the automatic stance for news awards winners, and the obvious choice for anchor publicity shots. Is it a North American thing? If anyone has any offerings on this particular journalism evolution, I’d love to hear them.
Also, happy January 2nd! 2011! Woot!
